Simply Skin

  1. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not always easy to remember to take care of our skin on a daily basis. So here are some top tips  to keep your skin cared for at all times!

- Cleansing your face AM and PM

I know it sounds obvious but I know a LOT of people who don’t do this. Your skin is exposed to all sorts during the day and if all that bacteria stays on your face overnight... building up (ew)… you’re likely to breakout! If you’re a little bit lazy like me, I’d recommend investing in an electric Facial Cleansing Brush. I’ve had mine for over a year now and cannot go anywhere without it! I use the Vanity Planet Skin Spa and, I’m not kidding, it’s a game changer. It comes with three brushes, one with a silicone head for spot-prone skin, a regular head for daily use, and an exfoliating head for a deeper clean. This, for me, makes all the difference. My skin always feels amazingly clean afterwards, and I assure you it won’t leave a trace of makeup on your face at the end of the day! All you have to do is wet your face, apply your face wash and then let the brush do the rest!

- Moisturise Moisturise Moisturise

Moisturising is KEY if you want your skin to maintain its youth, look and feel fresh every day and keep your skin hydrated! I would always recommend using one that contains SPF because the sun is just so damaging to the skin, and if you love the sun, like me, that’s a slight issue. I use the Body Shop Skin Defence which is SPF 50 so I can use it all year round and in hot weather, rather than sunscreen! Moisturising your body is something I’m trying to do more! For this I use Johnson’s Baby Oil (right after hopping out the shower) or one of the Body Shop’s Body Butters, which are hands down one of themost hydrating products ever!!!!

- Keep those hands clean!

If you travel to work/college/uni, think about the amount of things you come into contact with whether that be your laptop keyboard or the buttons in a lift! If you touch your face a lot during the day, all that bacteria will transfer onto your face, and could well break you out the next day. Keep a hand sanitiser on you at all times, I promise it will work wonders!

- Don’t Stress

Of course, this is easier said than done, but if you’re having a breakout, stay calm, it won’t be there forever! When you become stressed your body increases its production of the hormone cortisol, which in turn produces more oil in your skin…the perfect remedy for spots! Also, try not to apply a load of products to your breakout, it will most likely irritate it!

- You are what you eat! (And drink)

The most obvious one is drinking water, keep hydrated at all times, your skin will LOVE you for it. If you’re not the biggest fan of drinking water, Green Tea is a good way of keeping hydrated! But also, if you want your skin to look flawless, oily foods, sugary foods and excessive amounts of dairy aren’t going to get you there. Try having some antioxidant rich foods like pomegranates and peppers or some skin softeners like walnuts and sunflower seeds!

Hope at least one of these is helpful to you!
